DR EMMA SELBY

Counselling Psychologist (ADULTS 18 years +)
Qualifications: Doctorate of Counselling Psychology
Regulatory Body: Health & Care Professions Council (PYL30546)
Location: Bearsden Thursday 10.30am-3.30pm or online

I believe the difficulties we experience in life can be highly impactful on how we see ourselves, how we relate to ourselves/ others and on our own wellbeing. We can become stuck in unhelpful patterns of behaviour, trapped in our own internal conflict or afraid of/ detached from our own emotion.

Recognising that each of us is unique, I view therapy as a highly individualised process that aims to help us understand how our own internal world may be impacting our external problems. Focus is placed on gaining a compassionate understanding of why our lives are as they are and on processing any blocked emotion that is preventing change.

I draw from different therapeutic approaches and offer both short-term and longer-term therapy. I have completed core training in Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy and am currently undertaking advanced training. I also have training in schema therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT and process-experiential/ person-centred therapy.

I am BPS chartered and HCPC registered and have worked both in the NHS

and in private healthcare for over 10 years. I can be contacted by email at dremmaselby@outlook.com
